Sri Lanka’s ICT/BPO industry has been set the daunting target of reaching one billion dollars in exports by 2015 which will in turn require several supporting factors to be strengthened, including the generation of 80,000 jobs. Acting as the catalyst of growth in the country’s ICT/BPO industry, SLASSCOM took it upon itself to how these targets could be met through the SLASSCOM HR Summit 2012.

Many IT/ BPO companies walked away with Business and professional Services awards at the recently concluded NCE Export Awards. The awards recognized the contributions the companies have made in the ICT industry landscape in exporting business and professional services. Some of the companies that won recognition are pioneers in the Sri Lankan IT/ BPO industry. Virtusa, 99x Technology, Amba Research and HelloCorp were some of the companies who were recognized at the event.

‘Readiness to succeed by breaking barriers’, a roundtable on the opportunities and challenges facing Sri Lanka’s Finance and Accounting Outsourcing (FAO) industry, was held on August 2nd 2012 at King’s Court, Cinnamon Lakeside attended by over 120 finance professionals. Sri Lanka, with its pool of qualified accounting professionals second only to the UK’s in size, is in an ideal position to capitalise on the finance and accounting niche in the outsourcing industry.

MEGAMIND 2012, the first inter-company quiz competition organised by SLASSCOM (Sri Lanka Association of Software and Services Companies) will be held on 26th July 2012 at the Park Street Mews Warehouse. The quiz competition will be followed by a networking session for IT/ BPO professionals.

A preoccupation for CFOS in today’s global economy is how they can shape and evolve the optimal finance model to drive business performance. Increasingly, finance and accounting delivery through shared services and outsourcing is playing an important part in optimizing the structure of the finance function.
A breakfast meeting that included a keynote address and the panel discussion focused on the challenges, issues and opportunities in finance transformation through shared services and outsourcing was jointly organised by ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), the global body for professional accountants, and The Sri Lanka Association of Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM) at Cinnamon Grand recently.
