SLASSCOM acts as the catalyst of growth for the Sri Lankan IT and BPO industry by facilitating trade and business, propagation of education and employment, encouragement of research and innovation, and by supporting the creation of a progressive national policy framework.

 

Focusing Forward

SLASSCOM was founded two years ago as the apex body to promote, and enable the growth of the IT-BPO industry in Sri Lanka.
Being the fastest growing industry in Sri Lanka, it has proven potential to be the number one export industry in the country, with the highest value addition.To facilitate the growth in the IT-BPO sector, SLASSCOM has formed key forums; Capacity, HR, Global Trade, Local Trade, Quality, and Policy Forum.

The success of the IT-BPO industry is dependent on having a steady supply of high quality IT and BPO professionals. SLASSCOM drives its activities in this area through its involvement with the universities and other institutions to provide feedback, advice and to complement its efforts towards capacity building.

Sri Lankan IT industry is gaining rapid momentum in the global market. SLASSCOM will continue to play a key role in promoting the industry in the International market through the global trade forum.This year, we will focus on two new initiatives which will strengthen the foundation of the organization. SLASSCOM will create a strong Sri Lankan expatriate Linkage program, and set up of Centers of Excellence (CoE’s).


Sri Lankan Expatriate’s living overseas can link with local companies to share their knowledge, expertise and promote the industry. They will be able to promote the Sri Lankan IT-BPO industry and can form extended ambassadors of SLASSCOM.

SLASSCOM Center’s of Excellence’s (CoE’s) are key knowledge hubs to promote the vertical Industries and to showcase the collective expertise of the country.

I firmly believe that with the initiatives of SLASSCOM and the active member participation, our goal of becoming a 1 Billion US dollar industry is not too far in the future.
